Born x Raised had recently gotten a new production manager, who had developed pieces with us for her passion project with us prior.

She reached out to us with a project that required an expedited timeline. We delivered the samples at an accelerated rate, and once those were approved, we started production.

Develop and produce Fall/Winter 2018 collection. Prior to this, their collections primarily featured artwork with minimal number of colors and details. This collection aims to use more detailed and color intensive artwork which was a process we had to develop to execute at the highest level while staying within budget parameters.

Due to the size of the embroidery and complexity of the 3D effect, this was done on the cut piece. We laid the panel flat, embroidered, then joined with the other panels to create the bodice.

In order to execute the hood 3D embroidery, we had to make the hood a 2-piece hood that could lay flat, which was then embroidered and then finally attached to the bodice.

To execute this 16" 3D embroidery, a similar process of embroidering on the cut piece then sewing later was used for this piece.

The main challenge with this piece was the color separation to ensure the highlights and shadows were preserved while maintaining the stippling appearance of the artwork.

We had to use a unique method to execute this artwork on the hoodie and tshirt. We combined the traditional spot color screen printing method with CMYK.

This allowed us to build a base layer using the CMYK, then touching up the image with spot colors that brought the vibrancy within the artwork out. This was key to bringing out the gold, pink, and white highlights.

We were able to execute the complex artwork prints at a high level which included maintaining vibrancy and authenticity of the artwork. Collection was sold out.

We developed and produced the Fall/Winter 2018 collection. We were ecstatic to receive this project, as this was the first LA based brand that truly inherits LA culture. Even to this day, we see people wearing these pieces we made, which is always rewarding to see.
