How the project came to us

We met Daf through a client in 2016, around the same time Siberia Hills began producing their staple batwing hoodies through a different manufacturer. We remained in contact and had several mutual connections. It wasn’t until Fall/Winter 2019 that Daf reached out to us to help produce the upcoming Spring/Summer 2020 collection which became known as Animal Kingdom which he was planning on showing in January 2020 Paris Fashion Week.

Project
Brief

Develop and produce the full Animal Kingdom collection in time for 2020 Paris Fashion Week. This includes a total of 58 different styles from graphic tees all the way to varsity jackets, all over print canvas jackets, 100% rabbit fur jackets, etc.

Techpack

We had to use a rotary screen printing method to print the artwork over the entire roll of denim fabric. This method is hard to come by and very few manufacturers are able to provide this service. Due to the piece requiring the artwork to all go in one direction, when making the marker we had to ensure all the pieces were oriented correctly to achieve a uniform directional print. From there we did a mineral wash to dial the vibrancy of the colors down to create a more natural worn look. Then we hand distressed the knees and grinded the waistband, pockets and hem to create a more organic look to the piece.
This piece required to make the pattern and measure out each panel so that the shark artwork would have a dramatic effect and placement would be centered. Due to using a nylon fabric, we had to use a heat transfer technique called dye sublimation to execute the artwork print. As an additional detail we made custom shark tooth zipper pulls.
This nylon cut and sew jacket features a four piece hood with a fang zipper. This piece also incorporates a Camelbak hydration pack sewn into the interior lining with the straw tubing running through to the arm sleeve opening.
This intricate piece involved using blankets that were then used to create a blazer and pant set. In order to maintain proper orientation of the artwork, the pattern pieces were meticulously placed over the blankets. The hems of the blazer and pant along with the outseam of the pant required the frilled edges from the blanket.
This piece utilizes rabbit fur which can be a complicated material to use. Rabbit fur comes in small strips that we had to join together like a big quilt. From there we cut the individual pattern pieces out and then apply the 3-D embroidery. Final step involves sewing all the pieces together.
We printed camo on cotton fabric and joined that panel to the suit itself. Additionally we attached a chain that included a grenade trim. We produced 2 colorways along with pants that feature the camo printed fabric as well.
