Creating this ombre gradient effect required a specific methodology. Once we cut and sew the piece, we create a pantone specific dye bath. Using a precise technique, the fabric is dipped in the dye repeatedly, each time the fabric is submerged less and less in the dye to create a smooth ombre finish.
In order to achieve this detail, we joined the hood together via overlock stitching. We then take the outer edge of the hood and carefully embroider the zigzag pattern.
To create this piece we had to use 2 different printing methods. The main bodice and parts of the sleeve used a spot color printing method. Then we used a process printing method to execute the face artwork on the sleeve which involves using overlapping halftones to reproduce the appearance of a specific color, without having to create multiple screens.
